MamC

The MamC coding sequence from Magnetospirillum magnetotacticum (MS-1) genomic DNA. The gene product is suggested to be located in the magnetosome membrane thus making MamC ideal for anchoring foreign protein to the magnetozome (Komeili, A. "Molecular mechanisms of compartmentalization and biomineralization in magnetotactic bacteria". FEMS Mircobiol Rev 2012, 36 (2012) 232-252. and Lang, C. & Schüler, D. This sequence will be of great benefit for any future team aiming at engineering magnetotactic bacteria.
